On my last blog I touched on role-playing, a fantasy I have personally explored with my hubby. I wanted to circle back to the topic of fantasy play and further the discussion by also touching on fetishes. If there are fantasies or fetishes that you have and would like to explore, have you discussed these with your partner or friend?

If you would like to explore a fantasy or fetish with a partner, communication will be key! It’s important to keep in mind that your partner might be initially shocked/surprised when learning about a fantasy/fetish they had no inkling you have AND that’s ok. It doesn’t mean they love you any less, they might just need time to process what you’ve shared. So, give them the space and time they need to process the info. Once you’re both ready, it’s time to have an open discussion. That means having an open mind and heart and listening to your partner like you want your partner to listed to you. Use this opportunity to educate your partner on your fantasy/fetish, share anecdotes (doesn’t have to be personal). The next step, if you partner agrees (gives consent) to explore your fantasy/fetish with you, is to discuss boundaries and safe words if necessary. Again, communication is always the GOLD standard.
